What We Do
Hopkinton Garden Club volunteers perform services for our community and join with other organizations for community activities. Click on the pictures below to learn more about our services, and the organizations we have worked with to help bring beauty and enjoyment to Hopkinton residents.
Civic Beautification
Our members volunteer their time and skills to design, purchase, install, and maintain plantings in several areas around town.
Our projects include three seasonal plantings at the Town Common’s Doughboy Memorial, George V. Brown statue and water trough, the traffic island at the corner of Grove St. and Hayden Rowe, and the Hopkinton Welcome sign.
In addition, we install and maintain nineteen planters along Main Street for the summer and fall months, and decorate several locations in town for the holiday season.

Education: Members and the Public
Members learn from each other and from speakers who present gardening related topics at club meetings. Our "Speaker Series" typically includes 4 - 6 speakers a year on a variety of topics.
Each year, we also look for topics to share with another Hopkinton organization for joint presentation to the community. We have collaborated with the Hopkinton Public Library and the Hopkinton Historical Society and look forward to future mutual events.

Veteran's Breakfast Table Arrangements
On the first Friday of each month, the Senior Center hosts the town’s resident veterans for a special breakfast. The Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month from September through June to arrange centerpieces at the Senior Center in Hopkinton. Committee members take turns chairing the arrangement design and deciding whether to purchase flowers at a local florist or to use plant material from our own gardens.
Community: Books in Bloom
The Hopkinton Garden Club partners with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts to stage the “Arts in Bloom” show. The HGC/HCA Arts in Bloom show highlights many floral arrangements created by club members to interpret select pieces of artwork. Floral arranging is truly an art and this well attended show is always eagerly anticipated by the general public as a rite of Spring!
Community: "Arts in Bloom" with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts"
HGC collaborates with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) to give our members the opportunity to design and create unique floral arrangements to accompany art pieces in the HCA's annual juried "Arts in Bloom" show.
Our members' interpret selected art using a wide variety of flowers and arrangement techniques.
The artwork and the arrangements are then displayed at the HCA for all to enjoy.

Community: Veteran's Memorial Gazebo
The Veterans Memorial Gazebo on the Hopkinton Town Common offers the Club a lovely opportunity to help make the downtown festive for the holidays. Lights are hung, and greens and wreaths are strategically placed to celebrate the season.
Club members work with Parks and Recreation to schedule the decorating, and manage the gazebo lights.

Family Day
Hopkinton's annual Family Day is a community event featuring fun activities for kids and families. Our club typically has a booth for painting pumpkins and a photo backdrop. It is a great opportunity to meet many community members and share in the mission of the Garden Club.
Communiity: Garden Therapy
Garden Therapy is the use of plants and the natural world to improve the social, spiritual, physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals who participate in it. (Michelle Stewart & Antioch University). Volunteers plan the workshop activity, purchase supplies, make example pieces, set up the workshop for attendees, and lead and support the group in creating a horticultural item like a tussie mussie, holiday arrangement, or floral piece. Workshops can be augmented with related historical or other related information.
